Em 1717 na ocasião da passagem do Conde de Assumar por Guaratinguetá a caminho das Minas Gerais, os habitantes da região, gente simples, forjados pela dureza de um Brasil há muito esquecido, quase incivilizado, enfrentam os mais intensos dramas humanos, equilibrando se entre a queda e a redenção Diante desses conflitos extremos de vida e morte, revelam se homens de valor, fortes como já não conhecemos nos nossos dias, cheios de fé e virtude Outros, viciosos na mesma medida, deixam se tragar pela força de seus descaminhos Em toda parte, porém, enxerga se a mão suave da providência conduzindo aquelas vidas, enchendo de sentido todos aqueles acontecimentos.
Neste ambiente de vícios e virtudes em estado bruto, três pescadores encontraram milagrosamente uma imagem de Nossa Senhora da Conceição no Rio Paraíba do Sul e pelas Graças da Senhora “ nas águas, sua Redenção Daquele encontro em diante, a história da Fé no Brasil nunca mais seria a mesma.

In 1717, as the Count of Assumar passed through Guaratinguetá on his way to Minas Gerais, the local inhabitants—simple folk, forged by the harshness of a long-forgotten, almost uncivilized Brazil—found themselves grappling with profound human dramas, teetering between downfall and redemption. Amidst these extreme conflicts of life and death, men of true worth emerged—strong in a way rarely seen today, and filled with faith and virtue. Others, equally consumed by vice, allowed themselves to be swallowed by the consequences of their own wayward paths. Yet, throughout it all, the gentle hand of Providence could be seen guiding these lives, imbuing every event with deeper meaning.
In this setting, where vice and virtue existed in their rawest forms, three fishermen miraculously discovered a statue of Our Lady of the Conception in the Paraíba do Sul River—finding, through the graces of the Lady, their own redemption within the waters. From that moment on, the history of faith in Brazil would never be the same.

(ENG) Handsome, a womanizer, he is the son of a freed slave and an unknown father. The legend that gave him the nickname says that his father is a nobleman, but his mother died with that secret.
